Permissions/Opt Out

Hey all! This post serves two purposes: permissions for Leb's keen intuition/sixth sense and an opt out for sensitive topics pertaining to her canon/character arc. Starting with the first of those:

Leb is described in canon as having a "talent for figuring things out" and throughout the story is constantly close to figuring out whats going on, the only thing holding her back being her decision to trust the people she loves even when she knows they're hiding something from her. Specifically she can see through lies and pick up on things pretty easily. I would not put her at the level of say, Kabru Dungeon Meshi people observer skills, but it's up there enough that I feel a post like this is warranted.

As someone who has played a lot of twist villains or characters with big reveals and what not I know how it feels to be on the other side of this with characters being all "well I can tell you're evil because of this ooc knowledge!!" and it sucks shit. That's the last thing I would ever want to do and not what I would do with Leb at all but I still understand the anxiety surrounding that sort of thing. I like to think I'm pretty good at picking out what people want other characters to pick up on from their brackets and my default is to err on the side of caution/ask if I'm really unsure anyway, but regardless please feel free to use this post to let me know your level of okayness with this sort of thing. Is your character an open book and I have full permission for Leb to read them for filth? Are there some things you want or are okay with someone picking up on but not reveal until a later date because of fun reveal stuff? Do you want to completely opt out save for the most obvious of observations? (Like bold text in a trial pointing out a leg limp or something) Or a mix where some stuff is okay but a few things absolutely aren't? Whatever it is please let me know here!

Secondly, the warnings/opt out topics:
Religious themes: Leb is a nun who grapples with a lack of faith. We do not get a whole lot of information about her history as a nun (like when she joined the clergy and why) but there is the impression that she was never once happy with the lifestyle and it definitely had to have happened during her early to mid teens, which makes me headcanon that it was one she was pressured into. There are also lines in game about how Leb and Elise as children would at times be forced to pray for hours on end as punishment for things like sneaking into the church bell tower at night, or having to scrub the church floors as other forms of punishments. That's about the worst it gets as far as we hear in game, but I do know for some people this can be uncomfortably close to home. (also like. the game never once addresses homophobia and seems to have a "yeah we're just going to completely ignore it!!" mindset but like. idk you can't NOT read between the lines with some of Leb's lines about how her feelings for Elise are a big part of what puts her at odds with her "duty" lmao) There's a level to which the discussion of this dissatisfaction (and some bitterness) is unavoidable as it is again a key part of her character but I can obviously tone it down appropriately. (I think in general LGTS does a good job of handling this with care and without being heavy handed and I intend to hopefully do the same)
also going to be so honest with y'all i did not grow up in a religious home and the distant family members that were were all anglican. meanwhile i grew up to be a weird agnostic who thinks buddhism's pretty cool so i probably won't get too deep into it anyway and pre-emptively apologize if i get anything wrong

Gore: It's a murder game so I assume we are all reasonably okay with a decent amount of this stuff but LGTS is a horror game that takes after RPG maker horrors of the past so it's got quite a bit. For instance, one of the first bits of imagery you get hit with in the early game is a decapitated head in a berry basket. These can be easier to deal with in chibi sprite form or retro anime visuals but a little less so in graphic text. To pull back the curtain a little bit, I will say that Leb's canon point has some pretty grisly stuff happening that I don't want to share the exact details of right now (and it will probably take a while for her to talk about it) but uh. Yeah it was pretty bad! I am keeping an eye out on what everyone's individual hard nos are (I can promise there's no finger gore!) and will warn appropriately as always when the time comes but if there's anything you are particularly worried about and want to avoid at all costs in a one on one thread please let me know!
